— Pleads With Gov Nyesom Wike To Give A Lending Hand To Emohua Local Government Projects
Former executive director of finance and administration in the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Dr. Henry Ogiri has congratulated the chairman of Emohua local government area, Dr Chidi Lloyd on his developmental strides in less than one year of his administration.
Dr. Ogiri said the infrastructural revolution witnessed in Emohua local government area under the administration of Dr. Chidi Lloyd was unprecedented and exceptional in local government administration, stressing that the Emolga council Boss has redefined governance at the third tier of government in Nigeria.
Dr. Ogiri stated this when he joined Emohua local government chairman on a tour of ongoing infrastructural projects across the local government area.
He stated that the performance of Dr. Chidi Lloyd didn’t come to him as a surprise, considering the fact that the governor of Rivers State, HE Nyesom Ezenwo Wike had already set a standard for every serious minded chief executive at the three tiers of government in Nigeria to emulate.
Dr. Ogiri commended the Emolga council Boss for toeing the path of the governor, not only in the area of quality project implementation but for also providing effective leadership in Emohua local government area.
He said he was impressed with the expression of excitement and the ovation from residents of the area in course of the project tour, particularly in Eveku community where the 1 kilometer Eveku road being executed simultaneously with two other road projects ( Ukeli road and Ubimini road ) by the administration of Dr. Chidi Lloyd was already ninety percent completed.
Commenting on some of the projects sites visited, Dr. Ogiri likened the local government healthcare center which is already completed and awaiting inauguration to an ultramodern cottage hospital, stressing that the facility will not only improve the medical tourism potential of the area but would also reduce the rate at which residents of the area embark on medical tourism to Port Harcourt and other parts of the country.
The former finance director in the NDDC noted that some of the projects initiated by the administration of Dr Chidi Lloyd were going to generate revenue for the council when completed; eulogizing the council chairman for conceptualizing the marriage registry, the ICT center, the council staff canteen and the 500 seater pavilion to improve the internally generated revenue of the local government council.
He pleaded with the governor of Rivers State, HE Nyesom Ezenwo Wike to graciously extend a lending hand to Emohua local government council, to enable the council chairman actualize his dream for the people of the area.
Speaking further Dr. Henry Ogiri noted that the projects initiated by the administration of Dr. Chidi Lloyd across Emohua local government are projects with direct impact on the people of the area, hence must be sustained by subsequent administions in the area
He called for the support and cooperation of the people of the area to the administration of Dr. Chidi Lloyd to enable the council chairman actualize his vision for the people of the area.
He also called on other council chairmen across Rivers State to share ideas with their Emolga counterpart and intensify efforts to consolidate on the achievements of the Wike led Rivers State government in their respective local government areas, as Dr. Chidi Lloyd was already working tirelessly to actualize in Emohua LGA.
Dr. Ogiri thanked the Emolga council Boss for finding him worthy of an invitation for a tour of developmental projects in Emohua local government area.
In his brief remark, the chairman of Emohua local government area, Dr. Chidi Lloyd attributed the achievements of his administration in less than one year to Governor Wike’s non-interference to local government funds, as against the propaganda being peddled by members of the opposition in the state.
Dr. Lloyd berated those insinuating that some local government chairmen couldn’t undertake developmental projects because the state government was tampering with council funds, describing the information as misleading and mischievous.
On the rational behind the invitation of Dr. Henry Ogiri for project inspection in the local government area, Dr. Lloyd said his invitation became necessary following his experience as a former executive director of finance and administration in the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).
The council chairman said it is unfortunate that Emohua local government area depends solely on federal allocation because of lack of internally generated revenue in the area but promised to effectively utilize any possible support from the state government, following the plea made by Dr. Henry Ogiri.
Some of the projects visited includes the already completed and commissioned ultramodern public convenience, The Titan Trust Bank ATM Gallery ; the first ever ATM Gallery since the creation of Emohua LGA in 1991 (Completed and in use) at Emohua council secretariate, The 4 hospital wards Emohua local government healthcare center ( completed and awaiting inauguration), Emohua local government vigilante services secretariat building (almost completed) at Mgbuitanwo junction along East-West road, Emohua local government council secretariat (Administrative Building), nearing completion, The ultramodern Emohua local council staff canteen ( almost completed ), Emohua local government council legislative council complex (making appreciable progress), Emohua council chapel and marriage registry (making appreciable progress), The 350 seater ICT studio named after Chief Emeka Woke ( making appreciable progress) in the council secretariat, The 500 seater pavilion (making appreciable progress) in the council secretariat, 20,000 gallon braithwaite water reticulation project ongoing at the council secretariat, The completion of the long abandoned office complex in the council secretariat (making appreciable progress, Fencing and security tower building at Divisional police headquarters and court complex in Rumuji, The renovation of temporary site for Elele-Alimini magistrate court complex, The construction of 1 kilometer Eveku road with 2 kilometer drainage in Eveku-Odegu, The Construction of 1.5 kilometer Ukeli road with 3 kilometer drainage in Rundele.
